It appears our government (as well as al others) is being manipulated one way or another to serve the goals of the UN, the World Health Organization and the World Trade Organization. Food control equals people control -- and population control. Is this beginning to sound like world government and one-world order? Could this be the real goal behind Codex Alimentarius?

The United States, Canada, the Europeans, Japan, most of Asia, and South America have already signed agreements pledging total harmonization of their laws including food and drug laws to these international standards in the future.

WHAT CODEX WILL BRING
What can we expect under Codex? To give you an idea, here are some important points:

Dietary supplements could not be sold for preventive (prophylactic) or therapeutic use.
Potencies would be limited to extremely low dosages. Only the drug companies and the big phytopharmaceutical companies would have the right to produce and sell the higher potency products (at inflated prices).
Prescriptions would be required for anything above the extremely low doses allowed (such as 35 mg. on niacin).
Common foods such as garlic and peppermint would be classified as drugs or a third category (neither food nor drugs) that only big pharmaceutical companies could regulate and sell. Any food with any therapeutic effect can be considered a drug, even benign everyday substances like water.
Codex regulations for dietary supplements would become binding (escape clauses would be eliminated).
All new dietary supplements would be banned unless they go through Codex testing and approval.
Genetically altered food would be sold worldwide without labeling.

With biting political analysis, Ian R. Crane probes the track record of those who openly crave the introduction of a One World hierarchical Government. Exposing the agenda of those who have presided over events leading directly to the launching of illegal wars in Afghanistan & Iraq and who continually demonstrate their desire to perpetuate a state of permanent global conflict; whilst systematically eroding personal freedom, through the process of gradualism.

So what does all this have to do with Organic Farming and Natural Health? Part of the New World Order agenda is to remove the requirement for food labelling & to restrict and ultimately prohibit the sale of all natural health products. According to John Hammell, a legislative advocate and the founder of International Advocates for Health Freedom (IAHF), here is what we have to look forward to:

"If Codex Alimentarius has its way, then herbs, vitamins, minerals, homeopathic remedies, amino acids and other natural remedies you have taken for granted most of your life will be gone. The name of the game for Codex is to shift all remedies into the prescription category so they can be controlled exclusively by the medical monopoly and its bosses, the major pharmaceutical firms."

However, this is just the tip of the iceberg; behind the Codex Alimentarius Commission are the United Nations and the World Health Organization, working in conjunction with the multinational pharmaceutical cartel and international banks. It is now a criminal offence in parts of Europe to sell herbs as foods. An agreement called EEC6565 equates selling herbs as foods to selling other illegal drugs. Action is being taken to accelerate bringing other European countries into 'harmonisation'.

Yet Ian's message is not all doom and gloom, concluding that the unfolding events present us with significant opportunity for true Political Alchemy.

I had to remove the last 90 seconds of this video as it contained copyrighted music by Michael Jackson, and the last time I uploaded this I was given my third strike.

Thank you to Ian R Crane for his great insight and thank you to all those that watched this.

Our Health Freedom is in Grave Danger!

CODEX Alimentarius and GMO crops will remove choice and destroy our freedom in health matters

Globalisation of Supplements

The Codex Alimentarius Commission is set to vote on this at their July 4-9 meeting in Rome. After this meeting, supplements will be gone! Only a handful of supplements (vitamins, minerals, herbs) will be available to buy, and only synthetic versions of vitamins will be legal. Everything else is illegal (to sell, grow or own!). This also applies to practitioners and health professionals! Find out more at: http://www.laleva.cc/petizione/english/intro_eng.html

CODEX Alimentarius

The Codex Alimentarius Commission is a little-known international body (set up by the WTO and FAO in the 1960s) that wields immense power over the global food market. Their declared aims are:
# protect the consumer
# encourage world trade

Unfortunately, while protecting the consumer is a good thing to strive for, it seems that the second aim is taking precedence over that of protecting the consumer.

What's the Evidence?

The Codex commission has been working on

*

limiting the potency of vitamins (God forbid that we take too much vitamin C!) and all vitamins will be synthetic!
*

it has increased the legal limits for some harmful pesticides
*

recently some new type of GM maize was approved by the EU
*

The Codex also contains measures to
o

remove labelling of GM foods,
o

eliminate organic farming
o

make irradiation obligatory and more widespread

All this is certainly NOT not going to protect the consumer, it is just going to make us sick and make some large corporations very rich. Find out more:

Don't think that this can happen?

Recently, the EU's Food Safety Agency approved a type of GMO maize. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/art ... 118148.cms

What We Can Do

If you want to oppose the changes above (and frankly, I cannot see why anyone in their right minds would NOT want to), you can

*

sign a petition against the globalisation of supplement aspect of the Codex Alimentarius here: www.laleva.cc/petition/modulo.php3
*

start a petition against the Codex Alimentarius. We will link to it from here!
*

sign the e-petition against the ban of supplements at: http://www.conservatives.com/vitamins/e-petition.cfm
*

sign the SOS e-card at http://www.healthchoice.org.uk/
*

write to your MP asking him to oppose the Codex Alimentarius. Mention the aspects of the codex that most worry you. You can find your MP here or EMP here.

SGS Update - New Standard on Maximum Residue Levels of Pesticides to Improve Food Safety in China

On 20 March 2014, the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the Republic of China announced No 4/2014, National food safety standard on maximum residue levels (MRLs) of pesticides in food (GB 2763-2014).

Shanghai, China, June 11, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The new standard shall enter into force on 1 August 2014 and at the same time GB 2763-2012 shall be repealed.

Maximum Residue Levels of Pesticides

The new standard defines 371 pesticide items and a total of 3650 MRLs in food and replaces GB 2763-2012. The 3650 MRLs are based on pesticide toxicity evaluation (acceptable daily intake: ADI), dietary structure (pesticide residues intake level), and actual residues on crops in farm produce (the monitoring data received on the field residues). Additionally, evaluations of foreign countries and international organizations standards were taken into consideration. The standard was published after a consultation phase based on scientific, open and transparent procedures.

Broad Food Varieties for Improved Food Safety

The new standard expands food and agricultural produce varieties. The MRLs apply to 284 food groups which contain almost all products, e.g. vegetables, fungi, fruits, nuts, pulses, oilseeds and oil fruits, cereals, tea, spices and products of animals. The new standard covers common pesticides in agricultural production which includes 371 pesticides. In the future, the standard shall be updated regularly to include more pesticides. The new standard primarily updates MRLs in vegetables and fruits and defines 2495 MRLs for 115 varieties of vegetables and 85 varieties of fruits to resolve the serious pesticides problem in vegetables and fruits.

The new standard is closely aligned with CODEX ALIMENTARIUS COMMISSION (CAC) standards. Among the 1999 MRLs in the CAC standards, 1811 MRLs are equal to or stricter in GB 2763-2014 compared to CAC standards.

Businesses react to bread flour furore

Grahamstown supermarket Pick n Pay say they're confident of the quality of their products, in response to recent media attention to the so-called yoga-mat chemical, ADA, found in certain bread and flour products.

The chemical enhances flour, whitening it and increasing its elasticity.

"However, it is precisely this elasticity that earned it the name of the 'yoga mat chemical', as it is used to increase the stretchiness of plastic products," wrote public relations professional Pieter Bruwer in a widely circulated media statement this week. "ADA [Azodicarbonamide] is the baking powder of plastic, as it puts the bubbles into the sponge of shoes and sports mats."

In the statement David North, Pick n Pay’s Group Strategy and Corporate Affairs Director, was quoted saying that the company had already removed ADA from the flour pre-mixes used in Pick n Pay bakeries and house brand products.

"We have been able to remove ADA without compromising quality or price, and that is a good outcome for everyone," North was quoted saying. "...With advances in food hygiene, packaging and technology, some additives become unnecessary and can simply be removed from the product.”

Bruwer told Grocott's Mail he was conducting the media campaign on behalf of concerned milling companies in the Eastern Cape.

In a telephone interview on Thursday 29 May he said they didn't want to be identified.

"The small guys are scared of the bigger companies because of the possible backlash," he said. "But they've been losing market share to Sasko over many years because their flour is whiter and spongier. There's a host of milling companies that for many years did not use ADAs because they thought it was unethical. Now they've asked me to try and raise the issue so people become aware."

He said, however, it was a mystery to him how the DA had cottoned on to the ADA issue.

This week, DA leader in the Eastern Cape Athol Trollip said the party would be "taking the issue of Sasko’s alleged use of the potentially harmful “yoga mat” chemical in bread to Parliament.

"Bread is the staple food of thousands of poor people in the province, who are unaware that their daily food contains the chemical Azodicarbonamide (ADA)," the statement, issued on 27 May, read.

Manager of Pick n Pay in Grahamstown Jon Campbell said it was reassuring to be part of a corporate and franchise group that takes health issues so seriously.

"We as a franchisee are proud to be part of this Group, and are confident in the quality of the products on offer to our customers," he told Grocott's Mail in an emailed statement.

Meanwhile, Shoprite Checkers' national communications manager, Sarita van Wyk, denied rumours the company had removed Sasko flour products or bread from their shelves.

"We had reports that this was also mentioned on a radio station yesterday," Van Wyk told Grocott's Mail on Thursday in an emailed response. "Sasko has already confirmed that they removed ADA from their production process. ADA is nevertheless regulated in South Africa and the levels previously present in Sasko breads were within legal parameters."

Spokesperson for Pioneer Foods Lulu Khumalo, replied to Grocott's Mail's question about recalling their products as follows:
"Notwithstanding EU withdrawal of ADA , the ingredient is still allowed by the Codex Alimentarius, the international standard which develops international standards to protect the health of consumers, which is adopted into Health Regulations across the globe, including South Africa. We are therefore not in contravention of the regulations. We will not recall any product on shelf as ADA does not apply to the major products: Cake and self-raising flours," she wrote in an emailed reply.

"As part of a broader bread quality improvement project, Pioneer Foods commenced a process to remove ADA from all our formulations some time ago already. Despite the fact that usage of ADA is still allowed, Pioneer Foods has fast tracked the planned removal with all flour and specifically bread products produced as from 21 May 2014 no longer containing ADA."

Khumalo is Group Executive: Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Pioneer Foods.

Competition for space in the Grand Harbour is cut-throat, and this has led to a cement silo rubbing shoulders with a grain silo and possible contamination of the food chain.

One would have thought there are few issues that capture the public’s attention more than those concerning public health and possible contamination of the food chain. And yet, this country seems to buck the trend when it comes to the environment, with very few ripples being generated in the media after the story of the new cement silo at Corradino (more precisely on Laboratory Wharf in Grand Harbour) which rubs shoulders with (less than 10 metres away from) the grain silo, was exposed by Flimkien Għal Ambjent Aħjar (FAA) last September.
Former Malta Environment and Planning Authority CEO Ian Stafrace decided the cement silo operated at Corradino by UC Ltd did not need to apply for planning permission, despite such a need being enshrined in the Environment and Development Planning Act. This was underscored in an official complaint sent by FAA to Mepa last January and in a subsequent letter to Labour MP Michael Farrugia, who at the time was Parliamentary Secretary responsible for Mepa.
Towards the end of last year Mepa requested two risk assessments, one commissioned by the cement silo operators (authored by Dr Ramiro Cali-Corleo) and one commissioned by the operators of the Kordin Grain Terminal (co-authored by Dr Julian Mamo and Dr John Paul Cauchi). Both reports, albeit to varying degrees, did not completely discount the risk that minute particles of cement could contaminate the grain being handled close by. In fact, the report commissioned by the cement silo operators stated: “It is unlikely that this silo operation will be completely free from all fugitive emissions and so the possibility that the grain being handled nearby will be subject to a level of contamination from cement dust remains present even following the application of best practices.”
Dr Cali-Corleo’s concerns are partly fuelled by the fact that the grain silo is located east of the cement silo (and thus downwind from the cement unloading and storing operations, considering that prevailing winds in this part of the island come from the northwest). This means that particulate matter PM 10 and PM 2.5 cement dust particles “that escaped days before may deposit on grain being transferred days later”.
Although the report underlined the fact that the direct health hazard to humans is minimal if best practices are endorsed, it still advised caution since the emissions, although in minute quantities, will be generated each operational day throughout the year, with settled dust being thrown back in the air due to constant vehicular movement and human activity. In view of the minute proportions of cement dust, such particles are not affected all that much by gravity and so remain suspended in the air for prolonged periods of time.
The situation becomes even more sobering when one considers that the air in this area already suffers from high levels of PM 10 and PM 2.5 dust. In fact, the air quality report for the area states that PM 10 levels exceeded permitted thresholds on six of the 24 days monitored, while PM 2.5 levels reached but did not exceed the limits on five monitored days.
Those dismissing all this fuss about cement dust may wish to note that the chemical composition of cement basically consists of a mixture of calcareous material (limestone, chalk) and argillaceous material (shale, clay). The latter contains trace amounts of potentially hazardous chemicals, including heavy metals cadmium, nickel, chromium and lead, besides crystalline silica, fly ash and the irritant calcium oxide. Concerns about ‘fugitive’ (airborne) cement dust revolve around its fineness and alkaline irritant nature, which might result in a higher risk of respiratory tract damage.

According to the Codex Alimentarius (International Food Standards issued by the World Health Organisation), specifically the code of conduct for the reduction of contamination of food from smoking and direct drying processes (CAC/RCP 68-2009 – available online at file:///D:/ Desktop/CXP_068e.pdf “Sun drying of foodstuffs should not take place near industrial point sources of combustion of gas, such as roads with heavy traffic, incinerators, coal-fired power stations, cement works etc., or in the immediate proximity of roads with intense traffic. Contamination from drying in such places is expected to be a special problem for foodstuffs with a large surface area such as spices.
“However, covered dryers may protect foodstuffs from industrial sources to some extent.” The analogy between the sample foodstuff used in this passage – spices – and grains is considerable since both present a large surface area.
Earlier this year, once the fully-enclosed cement silo was completed, on the back of the development permission waiver issued by Mepa in October 2012, the same authority, now with a partly different team of foot soldiers and fuelled by different motivations, sought to block the first consignment of cement to the silo, only to be frustrated in the law courts by the cement silo operators who paraded the green light Mepa had granted them earlier on.
It is ironic and, to a certain extent, understandable, that Mepa allowed the completion of the cement silo even in the absence of a formal development permit out of fear of being sued in view of the waiver that had been granted previously.
Mepa has managed to force all the operators of the shipyard, grain and cement silos to submit an application for an environmental permit in a bid to green their operations. Cynics might view this as a tokenism but, in August 2013, Mepa’s CEO specifically demanded the operator of the cement silo to apply for an environmental permit to avoid facing possible closure of its operations.
In view of the significant environmental impact of the current cement-unloading operations, which, in the Mepa representative’s own words generated “a huge plume” every time there was unloading, and in view of the grain silo’s archaic conveyer belt system, observers believe that hefty investment by both operators will be needed to be eventually bring their systems up to scratch.
So be it... the environmental and public health risks at stake are high enough to warrant such a long-overdue investment.
The issuing of the environmental permit for the cement silo by the Mepa board, despite the very tangible risk of food contamination as a result of the ongoing operations, raises eyebrows.
The upshot of this sorry story is that, if it hadn’t been for the gritty determination of Antonio Anastasi and his colleagues at FAA and other collaborating NGOs such as Friends of the Earth, no concrete (pardon the pun) action would have been taken by authorities concerning the case.
