Stars That Will Not Explode

NASA computer simulations are not able to correctly model supernova explosions.

Contemporary astrophysical models of stellar evolution rely on the mechanical action of cold gas collapsing from gravitational impetus. Stars are seen as whirling vortices of compressed matter heated to fusion temperatures by pressure, alone.

Clouds of gas and dust a thousand times less dense than a puff of smoke are said to be drawn into a region of increased density that coaxes even more material to collect there. Eventually, molecules within the cloud fall into a gravity well of nuclear fusion, initiating a self-sustaining reaction.

According to consensus opinions, stars that are extremely massive live fast and die young. They “fuse” their hydrogen and helium into heavier elements that, in turn, fuse into elements that are heavier still. In their senescence, the radiative emissions from such stars are thought to be so intense that gravity can no longer confine their energies and they “blow away” enormous quantities of stellar material in a supernova explosion. In some cases, they lose mass up to a million times faster than our own Sun. However, that process is highly speculative.

According to a recent press release( http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/sc ... un_nustar/ ), “Many of the best computer models of supernovas fail to produce an explosion.” Instead of the stellar simulation collapsing and rebounding like a supernova ought to do, gravitational forces are so great that a rebound does not occur after collapse.

On June 13, 2012 NASA launched the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) in an attempt to analyze high-energy X-rays in what are thought to be the remnants of exploded stars. NuStar joins other X-ray space telescopes like Chandra and XMM-Newton, except that it is capable of focusing X-rays to a sharp point, enabling it to “see” energies up to 79,000 electron-volts. That capability makes it more than 100 times more powerful than the others.

Astronomers predict that the titanium-44 isotope will help them improve their computer models. Since titanium-44 is thought to be created by nuclear fusion in stars not quite heavy enough to form hypothetical black holes, in their understanding, it should be visible in the debris left behind by objects such as SN1994D, shown at the top of the page.

Many previous Picture of the Day articles point out that stars are not simplistic balls of gravitationally compressed hot gas, they are composed of plasma. Plasma is ionized, meaning that one or more electrons have been stripped from the atoms in its substance, so it is electrically charged. Plasma does not behave like a pressurized gas, it behaves according to the tenets of plasma physics.

Laboratory experiments confirm that electricity flowing through plasma forms regions separated by thin walls of opposite charge called double layers. This is the “charge separation” so often mentioned in these pages. Could charge separation be the foundation for the electrical explosions known as supernovae?

Electric Universe theory agrees with conventional astrophysics in that a supernova can be referred to as an “exploding star.” However, in an electrically charged plasma star, that explosion is due to the breakdown of double layers. The power that fuels the stars comes from external currents of electric charge flowing through vast circuits in space. Rather than “core rebound” or “white dwarf accretion,” supernovae are the result of a stellar “circuit breaker”, where the stored electromagnetic energy in the circuit is suddenly focused at one point.

When a star’s double layer explodes, the electromagnetic energy stored in a vast galactic circuit flows into the explosion. The resulting supernova radiation is emitted across the entire electromagnetic spectrum from radio to gamma rays.

Electric Universe advocate Wal Thornhill wrote: “How does a star explode? The conventional ‘implosion followed by explosion’ model has many shortcomings. An electric star, on the other hand, has internal charge separation which can power a star-wide, expulsive lightning-flash. The star relieves electrical stress by fissioning or blowing off charged matter. A star also has electromagnetic energy stored in an equatorial current ring. Matter is ejected equatorially by discharges between the current ring and the star. Our own Sun does it regularly on a small scale. However, if the stored energy reaches some critical value it may be released in the form of a bipolar discharge, or ejection of matter, along the rotational axis.”

Since stars can be thought of as the focus for immense energy from the galaxies in which they live, their activity cannot be based on whether they possess a certain mass, or a particular elemental constitution. Rather, they are not internally powered objects at all; they are bodies formed electromagnetically where gigantic plasma filaments have squeezed matter in what is called a “z-pinch.” That is how stars are born and that is where the seeds of supernovae are planted.

Door een zorgvuldige analyse van metingen van de Europese Cluster-ruimtesondes, die onderzoek doen aan elektrisch geladen deeltjes in de omgeving van de aarde, hebben onderzoekers een zogeheten ‘ruimtewind’ ontdekt waarvan het bestaan twintig jaar geleden al werd voorspeld.

Via deze ‘ruimtewind’ verliest de plasmasfeer van de aarde ongeveer negentig ton plasma per dag. Het plasma (een gas van elektrisch geladen deeltjes, bestaande uit positief geladen atoomkernen en ionen en negatief geladen elektronen) waait met een snelheid van ca. 5000 kilometer per uur van de bovenste lagen van de aardse dampkring naar de buitenste magnetosfeer van onze planeet.

Uiteindelijk verdwijnt het plasma in de interplanetaire ruimte. De ontdekking, die vandaag gepubliceerd wordt in het vakblad Annales Geophysicae, kan mogelijk meer inzicht bieden in het gedrag van de magnetosfeer van de aarde.

Press Release: Cluster spacecraft detects elusive space wind

A new study provides the first conclusive proof of the existence of a space wind first proposed theoretically over 20 years ago. By analysing data from the European Space Agency’s Cluster spacecraft, researcher Iannis Dandouras detected this plasmaspheric wind, so-called because it contributes to the loss of material from the plasmasphere, a donut-shaped region extending above the Earth’s atmosphere. The results are published today in Annales Geophysicae, a journal of the European Geosciences Union (EGU).

“After long scrutiny of the data, there it was, a slow but steady wind, releasing about 1 kg of plasma every second into the outer magnetosphere: this corresponds to almost 90 tonnes every day. It was definitely one of the nicest surprises I’ve ever had!” said Dandouras of the Research Institute in Astrophysics and Planetology in Toulouse, France.

The plasmasphere is a region filled with charged particles that takes up the inner part of the Earth’s magnetosphere, which is dominated by the planet’s magnetic field.

To detect the wind, Dandouras analysed the properties of these charged particles, using information collected in the plasmasphere by ESA’s Cluster spacecraft. Further, he developed a filtering technique to eliminate noise sources and to look for plasma motion along the radial direction, either directed at the Earth or outer space.

As detailed in the new Annales Geophysicae study, the data showed a steady and persistent wind carrying about a kilo of the plasmasphere’s material outwards each second at a speed of over 5,000 km/h. This plasma motion was present at all times, even when the Earth’s magnetic field was not being disturbed by energetic particles coming from the Sun.

Researchers predicted a space wind with these properties over 20 years ago: it is the result of an imbalance between the various forces that govern plasma motion. But direct detection eluded observation until now.

“The plasmaspheric wind is a weak phenomenon, requiring for its detection sensitive instrumentation and detailed measurements of the particles in the plasmasphere and the way they move,” explains Dandouras, who is also the vice-president of the EGU Planetary and Solar System Sciences Division.

The wind contributes to the loss of material from the Earth’s top atmospheric layer and, at the same time, is a source of plasma for the outer magnetosphere above it. Dandouras explains: “The plasmaspheric wind is an important element in the mass budget of the plasmasphere, and has implications on how long it takes to refill this region after it is eroded following a disturbance of the planet’s magnetic field. Due to the plasmaspheric wind, supplying plasma – from the upper atmosphere below it – to refill the plasmasphere is like pouring matter into a leaky container.”

The plasmasphere, the most important plasma reservoir inside the magnetosphere, plays a crucial role in governing the dynamics of the Earth’s radiation belts. These present a radiation hazard to satellites and to astronauts travelling through them. The plasmasphere’s material is also responsible for introducing a delay in the propagation of GPS signals passing through it.

“Understanding the various source and loss mechanisms of plasmaspheric material, and their dependence on the geomagnetic activity conditions, is thus essential for understanding the dynamics of the magnetosphere, and also for understanding the underlying physical mechanisms of some space weather phenomena,” says Dandouras.

Michael Pinnock, Editor-in-Chief of Annales Geophysicae recognises the importance of the new result. “It is a very nice proof of the existence of the plasmaspheric wind. It’s a significant step forward in validating the theory. Models of the plasmasphere, whether for research purposes or space weather applications (e.g. GPS signal propagation) should now take this phenomenon into account,” he wrote in an email.

Similar winds could exist around other planets, providing a way for them to lose atmospheric material into space. Atmospheric escape plays a role in shaping a planet’s atmosphere and, hence, its habitability.

NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory recently discovered this object, which the dusty plasma near the center of the Milky Way obscures in optical light. X-rays penetrate the dust: low-energy signals are red, intermediate-energy signals are green, and high-energy signals are blue. The white dots are stars from the Digitized Sky Survey.

The oval of filaments and bright spots in the relaxation phase of a previous star-wide exploding double layer (EDL)—conventionally called a supernova remnant (SNR). The initial event (the “supernova”) was most likely an interruption of the current in the galactic Birkeland current driving the star. A star-wide instability in the photospheric double layer caused it to “switch off,” and the inductive energy of the rest of the circuit was released into the gap.

Electromagnetic forces in the current surge caused the double layer (DL) to expand explosively, similar to a coronal mass ejection but encompassing the whole star. The DL would accelerate photospheric plasma outward; also, its stronger electrical field would accelerate current carriers—primarily electrons—to relativistic velocities. These electrons would spiral along the magnetic field of the supply current and emit synchrotron radiation.

The “wiring harness” of the supply current consists of concentric tubes of current filaments pinched into an hourglass shape around the star. It is invisible (in dark mode) around most stars, but it appears in glow mode around stars that are under greater electrical stress, such as so-called “planetary nebulae” and “SNRs” when viewed off-axis.

In this image, Chandra is looking almost down the axis, so the wiring harness appears as rings. Where the EDL intersects the evenly spaced filaments of the harness, the density of current carriers increases and bright spots appear. This is apparent along the top half of the rings, where at least two of the concentric tubes can be discerned. (Alternatively, one ring could be on the opposite side of the star and be seen through the near side of the hourglass.)

In an electrically powered star, nucleosynthesis occurs in the strong electric fields of the photospheric DL. It acts much like a lab linear accelerator and produces heavy elements such as silicon and iron near the surface. In a super-EDL event, the process may speed up immensely and produce large amounts of heavy elements.

Because of non-linear variations in the current, the distribution of elements and the expansion of the EDL may be asymmetric. The Chandra observations reveal that silicon, sulfur, and iron are concentrated in the northern part of this nebula, where the bright spots indicate a maximum of electrical stress.

A distant galaxy cluster is said to exhibit evidence for an unknown force. Not a single reference is made to the most powerful known force in the Universe: electricity.

Dr. Arp earned his place at the top of his field through years of research and many lonely hours on cold mountain peaks documenting far-flung celestial objects. As his galactic compendium grew, he noticed that there was something wrong with conventional time-speed-distance calculations – he found objects with higher redshift values in front of objects with lower redshift. Surely, such a conundrum should have immediately called into question the very nature of that “cosmological constant”.

If redshift is not an indicator of distance, J083026+524133 may not be so far away and therefore not so massive or bright. As Arp and his colleagues have repeatedly shown, taking in a wider field of view often reveals similar objects on the opposite side of a nearby active galaxy. Many of these high-redshift pairs are connected across the galaxy with a bridge of radiating material. Theories of an expanding Universe, dark matter, and dark energy depend on the XMM Newton’s (and other observatories) extremely narrow field of view and how the data is selected.

The European Space Agency’s XMM Newton X-ray Telescope research team has found a grouping of galaxies containing more than 1000 times the mass of our own Milky Way in what they believe to be the most distant reaches of the Universe.

The speed of light is used as a benchmark for defining cosmological distance calculations: the shifting of Fraunhofer lines into the red end of observed spectra determines “recessional velocity”. As standard theories dictate, the faster an object recedes from Earth, the farther away it is and the older it is because the Big Bang explosion is said to have imparted an inertial impulse that is causing the Universe to expand. Based on those theoretical parameters, a faster recessional velocity means greater distance, which means an earlier time period.

According to Georg Lamar and his colleagues from the Astrophysikalisches Institut in Potsdam, massive galaxy clusters with such high redshift are rare when they shine so brightly at X-ray wavelengths. As the ESA press release states, the presence of “hot gas” encompassing the cluster with temperatures of 100 million Kelvin makes J083026+524133 the most energetic X-ray source at z > = 1 redshift – 100 times brighter than any other galaxy cluster at that distance.

Such a massive cluster with a 7.7 billion year age estimate is thought to confirm the existence of dark energy because dark energy causes acceleration in the expansion of the Universe. That acceleration makes it more difficult for massive clusters like J083026+524133 to hold together in more recent times because the dark energy expansion wants to tear them apart.

Astronomers made this disconcerting find ten years ago, that the Universe is expanding faster today than it did in the past. In order to accommodate anomalous redshift observations the existence of a force that exerts negative pressure on gravitational fields was proposed and later called “dark energy” because it cannot be detected with any instrument.

Enzo Brachini from the European Organization for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere (ESO) wrote: “This implies that one of two very different possibilities must hold true. Either the Universe is filled with a mysterious dark energy which produces a repulsive force that fights the gravitational brake from all the matter present in the Universe, or, our current theory of gravitation is not correct and needs to be modified, for example by adding extra dimensions to space.”

Presumptions are difficult to overcome. The inability of conventional researchers to understand several factors hampers their ability to grasp the fundamental nature of the cosmos. The quoted comments are a perfect example of the absurd conclusions that can be drawn when electricity in space is ignored.

Two of the most pressing issues in the modern approach to understanding the Universe are the adherence to redshift as the only tool for estimating distances and ages of stars and galaxies, and a lack of knowledge when it comes to electricity.

First, in order to advance the catalogue of knowledge it often requires one’s reputation and livelihood be placed on the block and the axe allowed to fall where it may. It takes real courage to buck the system and stand on one’s convictions despite antagonism. Such is the case with Halton Arp, one of the grand masters in the field of astronomical research.

Second, by referring to material with a temperature of 100 million Kelvin as “hot gas” astrophysicists are highlighting their complete ignorance of plasma and its behavior. No atom can remain intact at such temperatures – electrons are stripped from the nuclei and powerful electrical fields develop. The gaseous matter becomes plasma, capable of conducting electricity and forming double layers.

In 1986, Hannes Alfvén, in a NASA-sponsored conference on double layers in astrophysics, said:

“Double layers in space should be classified as a new type of celestial object (one example is the double radio sources). It is tentatively suggested that x-ray and gamma ray bursts may be due to exploding double layers. In solar flares, [double layers] with voltages of 10^9 volts or even more may occur, and in galactic phenomena, we may have voltages that are several orders of magnitude larger.”

Plasma is the first state of matter and makes up more than 99.99% of all that we observe in the Universe. Cosmological redshift has been shown to be a property of matter and not one of velocity. It is far past time that scientists actually look at what they see with critical eyes.

Alfven wasn't just 'blown away' at their ignorance, he actually called it 'pseudoscience'. Not only are they trying to reinvent the electromagnetic wheel, they're trying to use a square wheel instead of a round one. Magnetic lines have no source and no sink. They have no beginning nor end. They don't 'start' anywhere or end anywhere. They can't disconnect from one magnetic source, nor connect to a different sink. They have the E and B fields backwards.

It's the electric field that has a source and a sink, a beginning and an end. It's *current* that can actually reconnect in a plasma, not "magnetic lines".

A coronal loop is not simply a "magnetic line", it's a z-pinched, current carrying plasma filament that is traversing a plasma medium. The "current" running through the plasma thread can 'reconnect' from one source to another sink, but magnetic lines have no source or sink and they are therefore incapable of disconnecting from, or reconnecting to other magnetic lines.

The whole mainstream "reconnection" claim is based upon a gross oversimplification that starts by describing (actually dumbing down) an entire current carrying plasma filament as a 'magnetic line". If you noticed they talked about how they couldn't measure the magnetic line themselves, just the particles that follow the lines. Those aren't simply 'magnetic lines' that 'reconnect', they are current carrying plasma filaments that "reconnect' their current through a double layer. Alfven's double layer paper makes their entire theory obsolete and irrelevant in current carrying plasma.

It's not the magnetic lines that actually 'reconnect", it's the current running through the plasma filaments that "reconnect'. Had they called the process 'circuit reconnection", or "current reconnection', they would sound so ridiculously ignorant of basic EM theory and they might actually understand what's going on at the level of actual physics. As it stands, they continue to peddle a concept that Alfven called "pseudoscience". They 'pseudo' understand the process, but they don't grasp it properly. Current can 'disconnect' from one source and 'reconnect' to another sink through a double layer.

Since magnetic lines have no beginning or end, no source and no sink, they are physically incapable of disconnecting from any magnetic source, or reconnecting to any other magnetic line or magnetic sink.

Even the concept of calling them magnetic "lines' is erroneous. Magnetic fields form as a continuous field, not just individual lines. Because we sometime draw magnetic fields as discrete lines around the magnet, the mainstream perceives that primitive visualization tool as fact. They think that magnetic fields form as some kind of discrete, individualized lines.

Had gisteren een gesprek met een rolstoeler over magnetic reconnection.Ze snappen het niet.

Dat komme doordat ze Alfven zijn werk niet goed door lezen. Dus voor de rolstoelers nog een keer:

Look at their actual laboratory experiments with 'reconnection' theory. They are taking two current carrying plasma filaments that are running in opposite directions. They then bring the two current carrying threads into close proximity to each other until they "touch" by forming a double layer between them. From there, the process described in Alfven's double layer paper *should* suffice to explain the behaviors of that double layer. Instead, the mainstream tries to dumb the whole particle collision process that ensues inside the DL to the magnetic field orientation of plasma physics. They literally ignore the particle kinetic energy flowing *into and through* the double layer.

Ultimately what happens inside that double layer is that current begins to seek the path of least resistance, which sometime makes a few particles jump from one filament to the other. The threads begin to 'rewire' themselves inside that double layer. No magnetic lines are "reconnecting" in the double layer, but current is being redirected from one current stream to the other, through that double layer.

The part we need to convey to the mainstream is that a coronal loop is not simply a "magnetic line". It's a current carrying Bennett pinch composed of moving plasma with millions of volts and tons of current flowing through it. To 'translate' to real physics, one must first recognize that a current carrying filament is not *just* a 'magnetic line'. A coronal loop is more than *just* a magnetic line. When two or more of the current carrying filaments "reconnect" in the solar atmosphere, through a double layer, a huge release of energy ensues.

The only way to break it down for them correctly is to model both magnetic "lines" correctly as *plasma filaments*, and to translate those magnetic domains into fine current filament channels where *particles* move from one domain to the other. Alfven essentially already explained it to them in his double layer paper, but maybe it has to do be done again and again and again until they finally get it.

Their whole "game" is to "dumb down" a current carrying coronal loop filament, and to call it a 'magnetic line'. That's where their conceptual problem begins and ends.

The untold story of era ending cataclysms and the terrible psychological fallout that ensued for the survivors and recorded in mythic stories is one of the more fascinating subjects out there. There is great value in researching this subject, because it gives us a clue as to where we stand today in this crazy mixed up world. If we can uncover the source of this madness, we have a chance at healing. It is similar to the psychotherapeutic process of grieving. There is much we have forgotten and much that we must remember, for only in doing so will we recoup the power of our sovereign selves and not fall prey to those who rule over us in our ignorance.

Clearly, humanity has created a cultural reality for itself through a built up series of reactions to events occurring over a long period of time. Outside of the effects from basic physical survival issues and Earth changes inflicted upon us, we humans have made up much of our so-called psychological reality. We weren’t programmed to war with each other, to enslave the vulnerable, to establish an elite that lorded over the masses. These are all learned behaviors, everyone having colluded to create the end result.

Where did these troubled behaviors come from? Or is this just what humans have always done, a type of animal instinct that fouls its nest on the way to Armageddon?

IMO, the answer is no. Humans have led many different kinds of lives throughout Earth history. In the Saturnian era, the situation was completely different. The reason we are clueless about this is that we are suffering amnesia and in the West, still walking around in a stupor under our new religion of scientism. We are willing to readily believe the misinformation and lies that are the hallmark of modern society, because we erroneously believe we won’t have to face our troubled past. We don’t want to encounter the possible immense cosmic indifference to our being. Instead we choose to surrender our intelligence to outmoded belief systems that promise us salvation from our fears.

The reason why we do this is that we have been traumatized and are suffering a collective amnesia. Nothing has really been forgotten, but we have sublimated this memory and shoved it into the unconscious. Despite this, there are clues everywhere. Until we each break out of this numbed state of existence and see the old belief matrix for what it is, we will continue to sleepwalk through life. This sleepwalking is killing us because it creates a vulnerability that others in our society are taking advantage of. Most of us don’t even know it.
